LEAN UNBOUND

A Lean Ensemble Community Initiative

With the Lean Unbound Initiative, Lean cultivates a community of learners of all ages, abilities, and artistic interests to explore the breadth of what innovative storytelling can be.

Through a variety of engaging offerings, including workshops, field-trips, discussion groups, year-long courses, and panel discussions, we invite participants to actively collaborate with other creative minds, while individually investigating the questions:

What stories do I want to tell? How can I tell them?

What role can I play in bringing them to life?

Learn more about our Unbound Programs below and how you can support them.

UNBOUND PROGRAMS

ABILITIES UNBOUND

Theater for Adults with Disabilities

In partnership with Pockets Full of Sunshine, this year-long theater intensive provides adults with disabilities the opportunity to unearth their artistic expression through performance, and share their work in a final showcase at the end of the program.

GROWTH UNBOUND

Workshops Across Disciplines

Led by visiting artists-in-residency and local creative professionals, these one-time workshops allow eager participants to step outside their creative comfort zones, experimenting with art forms including stage combat, classical singing, acting for the camera, verbatim theatre, and more.

CONVERSATION UNBOUND

Page-to-Stage Discussion Groups

This play analysis group invites passionate theatre-goers from Lifelong Learning of Hilton Head to gain a more panoramic perspective of the stories they see on Lean’s stage, investigating essential themes of the script as well as the artistic choices of our production’s creative team.

“THE BARD” UNBOUND

Shakespeare Accessible to Students

In partnership with The Warehouse Theater of Greenville, Beaufort County students and adults with disabilities have the unique experience to see a modernized adaption of a Shakespearean play and participate in experiential workshops, infusing “the classics” with excitement and relatability.

PERSPECTIVE UNBOUND

Thought-Provoking Panel Discussions

To deepen the conversations around the shows in our theater season, these riveting discussion panels — comprised of artistic innovators and community leaders — ignite a thoughtful dialogue on the cultural, historical, and communal importance of narratives about the human condition.
