Whitaker Gannon
Director of Community & Arts Engagement
Born and raised on Hilton Head Island, Whitaker has been an active part of the local arts scene as a director, actor, video artist, and storyteller since performing in her first professional production at the age of ten.
Regional directing credits include RED , The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time , Little Shop of Horrors, Clue and Something Rotten at the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina. Additionally, she was the Director of Photography; Post-Production for the streamed production of the new work ChipandGus .
Whitaker attended Wake Forest University where she studied directing as well as received a Presidential Scholarship for Visual Arts. Educational directing credits include: Us/Them, In on It, and Laughtracks: Sketch Comedy Show. She also participated in the 2022 Directors Lab North, an international directors conference and workshop held annually in Toronto.
Notable public speaking engagements include TEDx Talk and speaker at the “Stories of Dreams and Social Justice” Symposium at Wake Forest University. Other experience includes summer theatre camp instructor, NBC Sports Production Support, and volunteer for various non-profits for adults with disabilities.
